American Gods

I really enjoyed American Gods. I love how everything tied together suck as Margeruite being the sister of that Samantha girl and how Chad's cousin that he had a crush on was the wife of Robbie. The book left me pleasently surprised with all the plot twists that occured and I think Shadow was really easy to like. One thing that kind of threw me off were all the different coming to America sections. The thing i liked the most is how the different television characters would talk to Shadow. I mean c'mon, who didnt wonder what I love Lucy's breasts looked like?

Death

I am having a hard time figuring out what exactly is distinguishing these characters from being alive or dead. It more difficult for me to categorize the gods from this book than it is for me to place Laura, like Katie said, it is not hard for me to imagine that aspect of it. Similarly, it is not difficult for me to imagine Jesus or other gods like those in the book walking around during their respective times. The difficulty is what allows these gods to live and die. What allows something like freezing to death from passing out in the snow to kill something that has been around for so long? I am not totally sure if this question makes sense. It is simply something I would like to discuss and am having difficulty placing. It is as if there really is large amount of fluidity between the living and dead and gods. However, as discussed in the book it is said that now it is harder for someone to stay around once they died (discussion about Laura). What do you think the dead want?

Back to Link - Cats

I know it's late and we are all excited about Gaimam now, but I was wondering back to Link...there seems to be a lot of stories about cats or with cats in them...I couldn't think of any with dogs as main characters. I'm a dog person myself, not that this means I enjoyed any of these stories any less...just making the observation.

Godly Occupations

The Egyptians, Mr. Ibis and Mr. Jacquel, run a funeral parlor and are good at embalming people. They won't do cremations because they have been embalming so long. Are there any other gods that practice an old occupation in the present? I am not very familiar with the stories of gods.
