Thoughts on Monstrous Regiment

Okay, so I really enjoyed this book. I was prepared not to like it nearly as much as I did American Gods, but it was really great. I love to laugh and this book definitely made me do that. I know I looked odd, if not insane, in my corner of the Ferg reading and laughing to myself, but that's alright :o)

I did have a problem with the fact there were no chapters...I had a hard time making myself stop reading because I'm the type that will say "I'll stop at the next chapter". So yeah...that obviously wasn't an option here.

Also, I was wondering who everyone's favorite character was. I loved Maladict(a) and Igor(ina). Igor(ina) was especially great, though I think I picked up her lithp...oh, sorry...lisp.

In short, this was a wonderful book. Kudos to Terry Pratchett. What do y'all think?

I was thrown off by no chapters as well. I've read part of Night Watch, also in the Discworld series, so I was more comfortable with the topics and Ankh-Morpork when it came up. I think there are a lot of things in the book that tie into his previous novels.

I'm gonna have to go with Polly being my favorite character. She's more clever than girls are supposed to be, but she doesn't care that it is an Abomination.

I didn't even realize that there weren't chapters. I hate the way chapters break things up anyway. Like in the DaVinci Code. My word! I wonder why Pratchett waited so long to reveal Maladict(a). By the time it happened it didn't even matter anymore. I guess that was the point but I still think it would have fit better in the middle.
