The Prestige is based on the World Fantasy Award-winning novel of that title by Christopher Priest. It's a brilliant, thoroughly entertaining novel.
Also mentioned in the article is the great illusionist and historian of illusion Ricky Jay, whose non-fiction book Learned Pigs and Fireproof Women I also highly recommend.
An itinerant 19th-century illusionist is a character in my new story that I mentioned on Valentine's Day, and Harry Houdini himself is a character in my story "The Pottawatomie Giant," online here.
